Something Old Something New / Spathe Public House

IMG_6473

Something Old Something New (SOSN) is a social enterprise wholly owned by Simei Care Centre, a community based, purpose-built rehabilitation centre operated by Singapore Anglican Community Services (SACS).

SOSN aims to provide employment opportunities for members with psychiatric disabilities and assist them in their journey towards long-term recovery. You can help by:
  • Donating your new/pre-loved items of good condition
  • Volunteering your time to help out and befriend the members
  • Shopping at the thrift stores located at Simei, Bedok, and Pasir Ris
I went over to the one at Pasir Ris to meet up with a group of NUS students (Li En, Nicholas, Nicolette, and Weiming) on their project, and to pick out some clothes.

My happy pill accompanied me!

I spotted a Chanel dress by its signature tweed:

And wondered what size it is:

It was going for only $10-$15, but it was too big! :/

My poor boy. Juggling the 3 items that I picked out with the breakfast they bought for us (thank you!), and with my sling bag hanging on his neck hahaha.

Not only do the thrift stores carry clothes, they also have shoes:

Books:

And other miscellaneous stuff:

Thank you for having me! :D

This ombré top is one of the items that I thrifted. I think most tops are going for about $4-5, and they are in very good condition!

On 29th March, SOSN will also be holding their annual flea market from 9am to 5pm, at Simei Care Centre (10 Simei Street 3, Singapore 529897). They will be selling their goods at an even cheaper price! All proceeds will go back to help those with mental illnesses in their rehabilitation.

Line-up of events/performances include Zumba (which you can participate in), fashion show (whereby models such as Elaine and Christabel will walk down the runway with members from SOSN, wearing clothes from their thrift stores), balloon sculpting, hip-hop and Kpop dances, and more.

Do head over for very affordable prices AND do a good deed!

Find out more at their Facebook, Instagram, and website.

We went for lunch at Spathe after! Finally had the chance to visit this place for their popular garlic fries!

Really addicted to Coke recently. There's just something about it right?!

Classic Croque Madame with Garlic Fries: The slices of bread were thick and fluffy, with a generous serving of ham and cheese sandwiched between. Topped with a sunny side up, it was perfect. We especially liked the garlic fries! So good. I might just choose this over truffle fries anytime.

Belgian Waffle & Crispy Chicken Leg with Mornay Sauce: We had the sauce at the side. The waffle wasn't bad, but we have had better ones elsewhere, but omg the chicken was so tender and juicy under that flavourful crispy skin!

One of the most satisfying meals we have ever had! We loved everything! Definitely going back again ;)

I have two pairs of these shorts and I cannot stop wearing them. They just go with absolutely everything, don't they? Top from Bershka for only $7.90. I bought them in 6 colours hahaha.

Hi Kathleen I understand that these pair of black trusty shorts are from Topshop but is there a particular model name to it? I can't seem to find it in the store!

Hi! It doesn't have a name. Just the usual MOTO shorts. I don't see it around Topshop anymore either!
